In a rare move, English Heritage has allowed a church to have a stainless steel roof after lead thefts left it stripped. The massive building project, which also included a high specification alarm system installed at the church, has cost around £33,000. The vicar at St Nicholas in Skirbeck, Father Paul Noble, revealed the church needed to battle with English Heritage in order for the work to be done. Ecclesiastical insurance paid for the money for the roof and security system.
