A “mindless” crime of completely destroying a number of parking meters which would cost at least £20,000 in repairs has been condemned. Councillor Carl Maynard said these acts could seriously injure a passer-by following a flurry of attacks on more than a dozen meters in south coast town Lewes in three months. Mr Maynard also said: “Whoever committed this mindless crime should know they risk jail.” Lewes is famous for its Bonfire Night parades on each November 5.
