Electricity provider Central Networks are working with the police to try to stop the rising tide of thefts of copper. The organisation has put up a £10,000 reward for finding thieves. Victoria Blake from Central Networks said the thieves were “dicing with death” as each power line can carry 33,000 volts. This kind of theft has been on the increase across the UK and in the end carries simply a nuisance value as sometimes the stolen metal had little worth.
