A passenger who had only been on a bus for 20 minutes caused an estimated £200 worth of damage. A spokeswoman for the operator Stagecoach said the youth had been chatting to people on the south-western based bus but then decided to eat a corner of the seat. She did not know if he had swallowed the leather but it was enough to make it unpractical to repair it. “It’s not the case that he ate the whole seat,” she emphasised.
