A concerned citizen has managed to persuade members of a local council to install reflective bollards around a poorly lit junction at the entry to a housing estate, a new report in the local media has revealed.
Mrs. Rosemary Stuchbury from Tingewick, in Buckinghamshire, was so concerned about the level of road safety around the poorly-lit entrance to the local Badgers estate that she petitioned Bucks County Council (BCC) to have the street lamps at the junction re-lit, after being switched off in 2008 as part of the street light energy saving trial.
Although the council’s budget did not include any provisions for increased lighting, the local authority decided to take Mrs.Stuchbury’s concerns into account and decided to have reflective bollards installed at the junction in the new financial year.
Mrs Stuchbury said: “I have at last got a form of satisfaction. I want the lights on but if I can’t have the lights on, I have achieved getting bollards. So there’s some form of recognition.”
The Static Bollards supplied by Carpark Barriers Gates & Turnstiles are equally suitable for both ground or surface mount, are highly flexible in most situations and are available in both cast iron and wood versions, which means that customer will be able to choose either strength or cosmetic appearance, depending on the specific circumstances within which the bollard is set to be mounted.
