The Mid Essex Hospitals Trust has decided to build a new overspill car park at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford following complaints from patients and visitors regarding the lack of parking options in the area, a news report in the local media has revealed.
The new car park has 82 spaces and is being provided to support the existing 450-space multi-storey car park. Plus, although its main function will be as an overspill car park, but it can also be used by evening visitors who need car parking for the nearby wards.
Signage will be in place to direct visitors from the main car park to the new one if needed and it will still cost the same amount to park there as in the multi-storey.
Carin Charlton, director of estates and facilities management at Mid Essex Hospitals, said: “Coming to hospital can be an anxious time, and the journey to a patient’s appointment should not add to this.”
“We are delighted that we can open additional car parking facilities specifically for our patients and their visitors to enhance our patients’ experience when coming to our campus.”
