The Northern Rail hub scheme, worth an estimated £600 million, will begin with the launching the construction of a new fourth platform at Manchester Airport station. It promises to offer more trains, faster journey times and the electrification of routes in the area and current forecasts also point out that the regional economy could climb by over 4 billion pounds as a direct result.
As part of this scheme, the Manchester Victoria station will also get a much needed £27 million revamp, designed to help it cope with the increased traffic estimated for the future.
