A Football Club will install security fencing around its premises in a bid to curb the use of illegal substances on its ground, a recent news report in the local media has been able to find.
Bodmin Town Football Club will enclose its ground with a large perimeter fence after the club argued that it regularly finds syringes on its training pitch and needs the security fence to protect players and the public.
The latest needle were found when club officials were emptying a bin prior to the game with Exeter City.
Club president Brian Retallack said: "It’s just terrible. It’s not only needles, but even when we were meeting with the Environment Agency, people were letting their dogs foul on our second pitch, and we’ve already had our new refreshment hut vandalised. This is why we need to fence off the area as soon as possible.”
"To protect the public, the presence of a 2.4 metre fence would reduce the ability of these sorts of items to be deposited on to the pitch,” he added.
The Football Association had ordered the fencing to comply with rules governing Carlsberg South West Premier League clubs, with warnings that Bodmin Town could lose its league status unless the fencing is in place for the start of the upcoming season.
