A new parking facility offering 600 spaces has opened in Neath as part of the redevelopment of the town centre, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.
Work on site started in July 2014 after plans for the development were initially submitted in September 2013 following Neath securing a £13m loan from the Regeneration Investment Fund for Wales (RIFW).
A series of multimillion-pound investment projects have been completed in Neath in the past few years with the aim of supporting regeneration, job creation and economic growth.
Funding has come from a number of sources including the European Regional Development Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw and the Welsh Government Regeneration Area Programme.
Sally Rowlands, chair of the Neath Town Centre Consortium, said: “The 600 new car parking spaces will be a huge asset, making visiting and shopping in Neath much easier and helping to increase footfall in the town centre.”
