Canterbury’s local council has revealed some ambitious plans to overhaul car parking in Canterbury City Centre by adding ANPR barrier technology throughout its car parks, a news report has been able to reveal.
Although the local authority has vowed not to cut parking space, charges will be bumped up as innovative technology is rolled out to read drivers’ number plates and trigger automatic barriers at every car park.
Drivers will only be charged for the time they spend in the car park and will have the option of setting up an account online. “Ultimately we would want people to be able to park without needing to approach the machine,” a representative said.
“In the short-term you’ll still be able to pay with cash at the end of your stay.”
Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles has an extensive experience in creating advanced, reliable, yet quite affordable access restriction solutions for car parks.
