A new barrier is set to be installed at a Shepton Mallet car park following a series of complaints from residents about groups of cars gathering at the car park late at night and creating noise.
As a news report on the matter has revealed, the new barrier is set to be locked each night at 10pm and opened again the following morning. However, cars already parked when the barrier is locked will not be locked-in. In fact, they will still be able to exit the car park after 10pm by driving over a set of ‘alligator teeth’ – a raised, spiked surface which allows vehicles to travel one way but not the other.
Councillor John Parham, portfolio holder for governance, assets and public spaces and a local Shepton Mallet councillor, said: "Anti-social behaviour in this car park is an issue that a number of residents have raised with me and I’m pleased the council is taking action to deal with it. By introducing these new security measures we will reduce the late-night noise and disturbance that local people have had to endure."
The vehicle barriers developed by Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles can work in any weather, are able to immediately recognise authorised personnel and are supplied complete and ready to accept power and data connections. Plus, boom arms are available in a number of different lengths to suit various road widths.
Last, but certainly not least, it’s important to mention that the automatic car park barriers provided by Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles can also be fitted with a number of useful extras, such as a folding arm mechanism, impact release mechanism or hanging racks / barrier skirts.
