A new set of temporary bollards has been installed along verges in Alton’s Southview Rise after residents failed to adhere to requests to stop parking there, a news report in the local media has been able to suggest.
The move comes as part of an initiative to sort out an escalating parking problem on Alton’s Greenfields estate.
Hampshire County Council has written to all householders living along Greenfields Avenue and Southview Rise with a request, under the Highways Act 1980, that they do not park on the grass verges.
The county council said that while the number of vehicles parking on Greenfields Avenue had reduced, parked cars continued to damage verges on Southview Rise.
The statement said: “We will be installing temporary bollards on Southview Rise in the next couple of months to allow the verges to recover.”
The Static Bollards supplied by Carpark Barriers Gates & Turnstiles are equally suitable for both ground or surface mount, are highly flexible in most situations and are available in both cast iron and wood versions, which means that customer will be able to choose either strength or cosmetic appearance, depending on the specific circumstances within which the bollard is set to be mounted.
